Yeah, Lew Little. He was basically a comic strip agent who selected comics for syndication. In most cases, however, Little outsourced the actual syndication to a bigger company. That was the case with FUSCO BROTHERS, which was picked up by Lew Little, but the actual syndication was through Universal.
Excellent display of obscure comic-strip knowledge, Charles. And I'm assuming you did it without Google.
Lew was also instrumental in getting GARFIELD off the ground, as well as a several other strips.
Like most cartoonists, I submitted stuff to Lew right along with the other syndicates. He was always complimentary of my work, but nothing ever came of the submissions.
By day, I work as a writer/editor at Paws, Inc., Jim Davis' creative studio in Indiana. By night, I write and draw. Burning the midnight oil, I've created the comic strip EEK! (syndicated online by Uclick), hundreds of humorous greeting cards for companies like American Greetings, fiction and non-fiction for BOYS' LIFE, several award-winning children's books, and cartoons for MAD, MAD Australia, MAD Germany, WALL STREET JOURNAL, BOYS' LIFE, MEDICAL ECONOMICS, PHYSICIAN'S WEEKLY, THE SUN, WOMAN'S WORLD, NICKELODEON, READER'S DIGEST and PLAYBOY. I think I need a nap.
