Digging through my hard drive today, I unearthed this strip I submitted to the syndicates in late 2003. "Fries" prompted my first call from Jay Kennedy, who politely, but firmly, rejected it.
I don't quite know what to make of it, myself. The art has a sort of odd "Peanuts meets Bratz" look.
Thoughts?

Fries kind of shows promise, drawing-wise, but with regards to humor it doesn't make the grade in my opinion. Frankly, I'm unsurprised that it was rejected. I can see the Peanuts influence.
I think my current work is much better, but I kind of like the "pinata" and "role-playing" gags.
Yeah, the pinata strip is the best of the bunch.
I think the punchline in that one sounds kind of like something Pig might say in Pearls Before Swine.
